About Zukapo

A budgeting app built by people who track their own spending

Zukapo is a Glasgow company that makes a mobile app for managing personal finances and tracking savings. We started in 2020 with a spreadsheet, a few frustrations and a simple question: why is it so hard to see where the month went?

How it began

The first version of Zukapo was written by two of us after a winter of unpaid-for subscriptions and a savings pot that never seemed to grow. We did not want a tool that lectured. We wanted one that showed the numbers plainly: money in, money out, and what was left.

The early app did three things. It read a manually entered list of expenses, sorted them into categories, and showed a running total for the month. Friends tried it, then friends of friends. By the end of 2020 we had a small group of regular users and a clear idea of what to build next.

Today we are 16 people working across 14 services, from budget set-up and savings goals to spending reports and onboarding help. Over six years we have completed 1,791 jobs for 960 clients, which works out at roughly 160 new clients a year.

Mission and vision

Our mission is narrow on purpose: help people see their own money clearly and set aside savings in amounts they can actually keep up. We do not promise returns, and we do not give investment advice. The app records, sorts and reports. What you do with that picture is your decision.

Our vision is an app that a person opens for two minutes a day and closes knowing exactly where they stand. No dashboards that need a manual, no jargon, no hidden fees tucked behind a menu. If a feature cannot be explained in a sentence, we rework it until it can.

Values we work by

Plain numbers

Every figure in the app is traceable to an entry you made or an account you linked. We show the sum, the source and the date.

Privacy first

Your financial data is yours. We collect what the app needs to function and explain it in our policies, in ordinary language.

Honest pricing

Prices are stated before work begins, in pounds, with no surprise add-ons. If a job changes, we tell you before it costs more.

Experience and how we work

Our team includes developers, interface designers, support staff and people with backgrounds in bookkeeping and household budgeting. That mix matters: a developer knows how to build a savings tracker, but someone who has balanced a family budget knows which screen people actually open at the end of the month.

When a client contacts us, we reply within about two hours on working days. From there the process is the same each time: we ask what you want to track, agree a scope and a price, set up the app, and check that the first month of data looks right before we call the job finished. Of the clients we have worked with, 345 have returned for a second job, usually to add a savings goal or refine their categories.

We are based at 167 Dennistoun Road in Glasgow and open Monday to Friday, 10:00 to 20:00. If you would like to talk it through, you can get in touch and we will answer in plain terms.

Questions people ask us

Is Zukapo a bank or an investment service?

No. Zukapo is a budgeting and savings tracking app. It does not hold your money, make payments for you or recommend investments.

Who is the app for?

Anyone who wants a clearer view of monthly spending and a steady way to save: students, families, freelancers and people planning for a specific purchase or a rainy day.

How quickly will I hear back after I contact you?

Typically within two hours on working days. We are available Monday to Friday, 10:00 to 20:00, and closed at weekends.

Do you only work with people in Glasgow?

Our office and the area we serve are in Glasgow. The app itself runs on your phone, so day-to-day use does not depend on where you are.

Will the app guarantee that I save more?

No tool can promise that. What Zukapo does is make your spending visible and your goals easy to follow, which gives you the information to decide.

Want to see how it would work for you?

Tell us what you would like to track and we will explain the steps, the timing and the price before anything begins.
